Molly Lewis Poster

I was so honored to be asked by Molly Lewis to do the art for this poster.  I mean, not only do I get to do this cool thing, I get to make art of all these awesome people that I love to see. You get asked to do a thing like this, and the answer you WANT to give is “I WILL BUILD A TIME MACHINE AND GO BACK IN TIME AND TELL YOU OMGHELLSYES BEFORE YOU EVEN COULD HAVE ASKED!!1!”

Do not cross Molly, technology!

The Doubleclicks

The Doubleclicks! I wasn’t at the best angle for the photos… sorry!

Molly Lewis's MOM!

Very special guest: Molly’s mom!!

Molly Lewis

When Molly covered “Poker Face”, the lights went on in the green room, and all of the performers were dancing along! WHOOO!

Vixy and Tony

I didn’t get good photos, so I will illustrate with some fanart! Also in the show: Vixy and Tony! I made this fanart of them because boy do I ever love “Companion“!

Sunnie Larsen

Also, Sunnie Larsen! I was a little short on time, so this is a somewhat simple fanart. I’ve seen Sunny playing with Marian Call a couple of times, and dangit if she didn’t squeeze a tear out of me when she was playing with Vixy and Tony during the above song.

Open Letter to Stephen Fry

If you’ve wondered what Molly’s “Open Letter to Stephen Fry” would sound like with a full band, here you go!

It was an awesome show, and now that Molly is freed from her college bindings, you should try to catch her wherever she performs!

Supertrain

On a more personal note, I finally got to meet an hang out with a passel of Sea Monkeys (attendees of the JoCo Cruise)! Sara Chicazul, Maria and Taylor Fisher (who have a giant bag of art I dumped on them!), and Alice Lee (OMG, thank you for dinner!!). They were traveling around to West Coast Jonathan Coulton shows, and I was able to host a Supertrain party (A concept from John Roderick, planned out in a few episodes of Roderick on the Line)! I have had a VERY awesome weekend!

I really, really love nerds, people. I really do. They make life SO MUCH more fun!

I was able to see the Jonathan Coulton show with John Roderick opening last night (and featuring Scarface!). WHAT A SHOW!

Setlist

JoCo’s setlist for the curious! I musta missed “Shoe” while I was in the restroom. Ba-dum-tch!

Cave Jade

So, recently on the internet, I seem to have been trolled by slacktivist wannabees.

Now, why am I still on about it? Why do I feel like I need to say something? Because my intent in creating the comic was to communicate my view, find others like me, and be helpful in general. When someone is new to my comic, new to me in general, or who have simply not followed everything I do ever everywhere, I don’t want so much out-of-context nonsense to occur. For people to react is such immensely ridiculous ways could diminish what I try to do by scaring people away before they have a chance to learn for themselves.

So if you’re curious about RECENT me…

In terms of answering the question of was I a sexist, knuckle dragging sleazeball BACK THEN? Hardly. I did go back to the forum and browse what we used to talk about, and it really was not at all “hur hur hur ::drool:: at all, it actually WAS more about support and leaning on each other while we struggled with our sexual and romantic needs. I also did this fun thing that the internet lets us do these days, I looked back into the abyss to see who exactly was doing this sort of thing, and glass houses, y’all.

I know it’s not the best idea to engage with trolls like this, but drawing that art sure was some fun therapy! Yup, that’s me, big ‘ol Cave Jade, skeevy pervert. I also have lovely fans and friends who have had many nice things to say about the matter, and the comic in general.

Anywho… I hope the relatively open book of me is of some use to you on your path of learning in life.

I am trying to raise money for a number of things – technology repairs and upgrades, traveling and outings (because I need to go OUTSIDE and DO STUFF more than once or twice a month, I’m so stir-crazy!), more trips to the Farmer’s Market for healthier food (there is no longer one within walking distance), SO…

I’m going to do a few things to test the waters before I start laying some bigger ideas on y’all.

First:

Live streaming donations for sketches!

Sketches

Here are some examples of what I did with my demo effort (and here are the videos of some). The idea is, donate some amount, and in chat, e-mail, IM, or with the box you can fill in when donating, tell me what you want me to draw. You’re just donating for the live drawing entertainment. I’m planning on July 7th from noon-ish-whenever (maybe 4pm or so) Pacific time.

The suggested guidelines for my next effort:

  • Pre-donated requests will be done in between live efforts so there is less downtime. I’d like to keep the stream lively for viewers.
  • Suggested donations: 1-10 bucks for simple ideas, 10 or more for something complex or detailed. I sometimes get randomly carried away, so there’s a small chance of getting a wee bit more bang for the buck.

The next thing is Posters. I will be taking pre-orders for these 11×7″ (These previews are not yet to scale, but I’ll fix that!) posters with a theme perhaps appealing to the JoCo Cruise Crazy crowd.

I’m still working out the details, depending on shipping costs, I’m estimating they will be 20 bucks each (Maybe 30 for both?). I’ll need to get to a pre-order minimum of 100 50 each. I will randomly select probably 20 orders and add maybe a 1″ button with some art, and perhaps another random print… some kind of bonus! I will also likely do a limited time pre-order, because I want to make sure it’ll be sort of quicker and easier to refund if I don’t get enough orders.

Thirdly, this doesn’t fund raise a whole lot for me, but my Alice in Wonderland themed art for the PNWBJD Expo is now up on Deviant Art as a print.

If you have any questions, e-mail, tweet or something! There should be time to sort out quirks before these things go live!
