Jasika Nicole and Astrid from Fringe

Jasika Nicole as Astrid from Fringe! I love Fringe. I hope they stay on the air long enough to finish the story!

My BFF’s little kid said, referring to her fist, “this is the train because you are the train track. Choo choo!” and proceeded to beat her mother in the face.

Having done some parenting, I sympathize with how painful it is when very little kids do things like this, but at the same time, it is so darn hard not to laugh until you cry at something so outrageous from a little kid.

So… now this is an in joke with my other friends, when we get mad at each other in a silly way, we just yell “CHOO CHOO MOTHER#@&*$#”… It amuses us at least. *cough* I bet Sam Jackson would be proud.

Marc maron

Do you listen to Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast? Of course you do. This was inspired by a morning rant Marc had on Twitter.

Kevin Smith

In Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier’s SModcast #149, Kevin talked about the effects during the Quidditch scenes of the most recent Harry Potter movie being really believable. I immediately picked up a pencil.

I was inspired to draw a little Fatshion.

That’s it for today! Have a lovely Holiday!

A little angelic/fairy art for you, in a somewhat seasonal mood.

If you can’t tell by the thumbnail, that is NSFW!

You see, the creator of the amazing adult’s only webcomic Oglaf got complaints of too many dicks in the comic, making it “gay”, and this is my response to that.

In other news, check out the Store/Shopping Links in the menu, I added a couple more stores with stuff you may find appealing.

I have a few things to put up today!

Steamcon Staff T-shirt

This was the Steamcon Staff T-shirt that I designed art for!

Philanthropic Space Pigs

Molly Lewis Birthday

It was also Molly Lewis‘ birthday, and it turns out that Nov. 23 was also the birthday of Boris  Karloff and Harpo Marx… so…

I’m trying to get things updated now that the site is fixed! I’ve added a quick gallery for fabrics, and I can finally easily put up images again!

I was listening to A Bit of a Chat with Ken Plume, with guest Jonathan Coulton. There was talk of how the upcoming album would be lacking monkeys. This is a sad monkey waiting by the phone.

If you enjoy that podcast, I highly, highly recommend checking out Mr. Plume’s chats with Mike Phirman,  and Adam Savage. Really, there and many amazing interviews that he’s done!

Well, some of the tech here is still out of order, but for now, I will resort to old fashioned efforts! Here is a long summary of various things I’ve been up to in the recent months.

A little fan art of Marian Call that I’d done before the show. I was fortunate enough to gift her a copy at the show that I went to, and later, Peter Sagal mentioned it on Twitter. ::NPR SQUEE::

I LOVE Fringe, so it was only natural that I draw my favorite character. Man, I just adore John Noble.

If you aren’t on to Mike Phirman yet, you should catch up! So funny and talented! You should also catch both of his chats with Ken Plume. They’ve got fantastic chemistry!

In Episode 8 of Kevin Smith and Ronald Garman’s Hollywood Babble On podcast, Kevin imagined doing the podcast as Muppets… forgetting for a moment that it’s audio. Pretty much any mention of Muppets and I start itching to create, so… And much to my shock, in Episode 9, they talked about the art. My name was mixed up with someone else who sent in art, but I still delight in having been called a “Motherfucker”. *giggle* I also feel uncommonly qualified to refer to Richard Garman with any name I so choose.

So now I’m really excited, but the next piece that came to mind was a short comic that crosses over with many of the SModcasts. If you’re not already fan, or not quite caught up, this may not make a lot of sense. I will at least give this background: Rudyard Garman has a thing both for Emma Stone and Owls, Malcolm Ingram tends to be overly sensitive in defending himself… and I think I’ll assume you know about Harry Potter. I should also be very clear – this comic is NSFW, kinda rude, and generally comedically filthy.

Full Comic, NSFW!!

This was a painting that I started live on the internet. If I can ever figure out how to sort out space, lighting, and what to do with it next, I will probably do it via Ustream.

These are but a few recent fabrics that I’ve released via Spoonflower. I think it’s safe to say I’m still pretty addicted to designing fabrics.

A little beefcake-y Halloween art.

A little winter holiday related art.

I made ice cream! Sage, Butter, Cranberry, Brown Sugar and Grape, topped with candied walnut. It needs work, some stuff didn’t really come through in the flavor department.

I’ll be presenting some stuff in the Steamcon II art show, and this is basically the art design for what you’ll see on the Staff t-shirts.

The art to accompany my bio for Steamcon II. My Bio?

Jade Gordon, also known as J-99-B1, is the fourth model in the Artistic Automaton series. Her exterior is a beautiful combination of oak and polished brass, complemented by tasteful tapestries. Inside, an advanced Aesthet-o-matic Engine, with over 36 gears, controls everything from Jade’s themes to her characters to her choice of media. Recurrent ouput modes include digital art, caricature, fabric designs, webcomics and more! Manufactured in Upstate New York, the Jade Gordon is now located in Seattle, Washington. The J-99-B1 can run for up to twelve hours on 50 oz. solution comprised of water, glucose, sodium, and other simple chemicals. Additional schematics & information available at jadegordon.com, and popular websites such as Spoonflower.com, Flickr.com, and Twitter.com.

This is the full color finished piece that the bio pic comes from.

During the 100th episode of Paul and Storm’s podcast, someone sent in a question for the special guest, Molly Lewis. It was “What is cuter, Molly, or a cartoon bunny Molly?” Flawed question! So… my pencil started scratching, and now I ask you, “What is cuter, cartoon bunny Molly, cartoon bunny Paul, or cartoon bunny Storm?”

Oh how I love w00tstock! I wondered what they’d all look like as Muppets… I started out just trying to draw the core group, but I had to keep things reasonable. This took a long time!

WHEW. And now, I need to go rest up, in a few hours I have to eat a radioactive sammich so doctors can examine my insides. Good times.

Boy howdy has it been busy lately. In some ways bad (medical issues) in some ways good (productive and non-cancerous results involved in medical issues).

The stuff behind the scenes here is still kind of wonky, so I’ll entertain you with placeholders until I get the machinery going again.

There is tons (for me, anyway) of new stuff in the DeviantArt gallery (clickies!), and the occasional somethingorother on Twitpic (clickies!), AND I’m still posting lots of stuff on Spoonflower (clickies!).

I will have art in the Steamcon II art show in November! I may pair my presentation with a first-come first-serve set of 1″ buttons. Maybe. Depends on how many supplies I have left and physical effort required.

I also went to a Marian Call concert earlier (With Molly Lewis opening), and it was fantastic! My (still learning) photos here (clickies!)! Video Clip!

It’s been a while, and I can’t really afford to test them out, but I put up a shop at CafePress again (and also Zazzle which should have more up shortly.). If you have any specific requests or suggestion, please let me know!

First thing : I know, it’s been a while. See, immediately following ECCC, I got the plague! Well, not really, but it was a serious virus that lingered as respiratory irritation for about 2 months. To top it off, while starting the cold, I took Nyquil, and found out just then that I am wildly allergic. In addition to having a horrible virus, I also had respiratory distress and hives! yay? And following the illness, I have developed some sort of pain that they thought might have been a hernia or cracked rib (which seemed natural with all the coughing forever and ever). I’ve finally got actual diagnoses with empirical evidence that I do indeed have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (hello enlarged Ovary!), and Diabetes (thankfully a mild case). They’re still investigating a lot of other things (like fibromyalgia, IBS,…), but right now, I am so beat! That’s a lot of sickness and pain, and I am tired beyond tired. I’ve been using most of my creative energy on designing fabric patterns, and the random bit of art. My WordPress and ComicPress installs are also having some issues, and I must rely on my techie friends to have free time to figure out how to fix things. And at some point this year, I expect a 3rd volume of my art books to be out on Lulu!

On to funner stuffs!

Back in early May, I was ever so lucky to attend w00tstock 2.0! Back in Feb., I was also fortunate enough to see Jonathan Coulton/Paul and Storm, and when looking at w00tstock, I mean… I just had to go! In fact, I’m also Paul and Storm Minion #293, a fact I forgot when standing in line for autographs, so like a dummy I couldn’t have them sign it “To Minion #293”. I kept going back and forth in my head between 293 and 296.

ANYWAY…

This here is the amazingly adorable, sexy, smart, fast-talking Hank Green. I’d never heard of him before, and now I am completely addicted. I’m just now sort of coming around to his brother John. Perhaps I’d like John more if he also sang. Hank’s rap about w00tstock is so fabulous!

And the amazing Molly Lewis, who has a great song about Stephen Fry that is much like she read my mind!

Oh, Mr. Savage…

adamsavage_awesome_small

I’m a huge Mythbusters and Adam Savage fan, so I was tickled to pieces that I actually got to see him live, AND get an autograph. I gave him the line art for this piece because I didn’t have enough time to color it before the show, and I got the compliment of “You’ve been paying attention!”. I wrote more about it here, but it was a nice nano-moment of validation. I spent a lot of time being told I was stupid, untalented, and on and on, so that was a good thing for my ego!

You can find a few w00stock videos on my YouTube channel.

I, like many others, have discovered Spoonflower, a DIY fabric printing service. In order to sell fabric via this service, you must first order samples. I document below the designs I tried, and how the samples turned out.

About the sample images: The upper left is generally the original graphic, the upper right is generally how it looks printed on each fabric, the bottom left is generally to show the underside and show through, and the bottom right is generally to show how it looks held up to a light. The center is generally a more accurate color representation (scanned as opposed to photos).

Printed on upholstery-weight twill, Pattern setting: half-drop repeat

Printed on Quilting Weight, Pattern setting: half-brick repeat

Printed on Quilting Weight, Pattern setting: half-drop repeat

Printed on linen-cotton canvas, Pattern setting: half-brick repeat

Printed on Organic Cotton Knit, Pattern setting: basic repeat

This last one is a character from my children’s book.

These are the fabrics I have up for sale, but on my Spoonflower Profile, I have a lot of other concepts posted. Given that I don’t have endless funds for sample ordering, I’d love feedback and requests (I may or may not be able to honor ’em, but I’d still like the input) for what folks might be interested in.

My favorite fabrics are the Knit and Twill, but the canvas is pretty appealing too. The twill seems by far the best at getting details to show up, and the canvas is pretty crisp with details.

OH HAI INTERNETS! I HAZ UR JOEL. DO NOT PANIC.

Topataco had a pre-con party at Arcane Comics in West Seattle.

How and why did I go? What con am I even talking about?

So, Joel Watson of Hijinks Ensue fame needed a couch for crashing, as he will be workin’ the Emerald City Comic Con. Having kinda been there and done that, it seemed natural to offer. And so, I am swept away in the rush of comicness that is invading Seattle right now. Don’t worry, I’ll set him free when the experiments are complete make sure he gets to the con on time.

Update:

Joel responds: “That’s the same thing Leeloo said to Corbin Dallas Multipass”

And in my glee that anyone gets that subtle joke, I made this to respond. This is Joel, finding a special appreciation for Seattle *ahem* that allows him to save us from a terrible burning death under the horrible daystar that came out today.

I love The 5th Element, I really do!
